Negative Feedback Emails Not Received
Are you not receiving the negative feedback emails from Starfish Reviews? Here's how to troubleshoot the problem:
Check Your Spam/Junk Folder
Starfish Reviews uses WordPress' built-in email functionality. That means that if your website is sending via your webserver (usually not ideal) then Starfish emails will be sent the same way. Lots of times those can end up in the spam/junk folder.
Make Sure It's Going to the Right Email Address
If it's not in your spam/junk folder, check the funnel to make sure it's going to the right place. If the Negative Response > Email Feedback field is set to "{admin-email}", then go to Settings > General and make sure the site admin email is the one you're checking for the negative results emails. Or change the Email Feedback field in the funnel, to your actual email, and test again.
Test Email Sending
If neither of the above resolve the issue, we need to do some testing to see if WordPress is able to get email to you at all?
To test WP's email sending ability, logout of WordPress on the site that's having this issue. Then go to: [yourdomain.here]/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword. Input your username or email and click the "Get New Password" button.
Do you receive the password reset email? You don't have to click the link to set a new password, we just need to know if you received the email?
If you don't receive the email
If you don't, then it's a WordPress email problem and the whole site's email is not getting through. This includes comment notifications, password reset notifications, and possibly contact form submissions (depending on your contact form plugin/theme). This could stem from a number of issues. You can take the problem up with your host. Or, the best permanent solution is using an email sending service and routing all WordPress' emails through there.
We recommend sending services SendGrid (still has a limited free plan) and Postmark. Once you have an account with either, install and configure their free WP plugin. Once it's connected to your account, all these emails will be routed through their service and should reach their destination.
If you do receive the email
If the lost password email reaches you just fine, then it sounds like there may be a bigger problem. Please contact us so we can work with you to figure out what's going on.
